At the Rwanda One Health Innovation Network (ROHIN), we recognize that high-quality milk begins with healthy, well-nourished animals. To support a stronger and safer dairy value chain, we provide targeted training to dairy farmers on animal nutrition and safe milk production practices.
Our training sessions focus on helping farmers understand the vital link between balanced feeding, animal health, and milk quality. Farmers learn how proper nutrition enhances milk yield, improves animal immunity, and reduces the risk of diseases that can compromise milk safety.
Key topics covered include:
- Balanced feeding and ration formulation for different stages of lactation
- Use of quality forage, supplements, and clean water
- Proper housing and animal welfare practices
- Safe milking procedures and hygiene standards
- Prevention of contaminants and antimicrobial residues in milk
- Record-keeping for herd health and production
By equipping farmers with practical knowledge and hands-on skills, ROHIN promotes sustainable dairy production and ensures that consumers receive safe, clean, and nutritious milk. These efforts support public health, improve farmer livelihoods, and strengthen Rwanda’s commitment to the One Health approach.
